Business cost is rising, a lot. In software side, you can save a bit by swtiching to freeware.
The largest piece of freeware should be Linux (say, Ubuntu), but Linux doesn't really run lots of commercial softwares. So, unless you really want to try it out, you should stay with Microsoft windows systems.

This is the best piece of office suite I ever saw besides the Microsoft office product. They are 99% compatible, both functions and User interface, with MS office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint). So there is no switching cost: forget about re-training when turning to other office suites.
But, always a but, they only support Chinese Interface :(
